Biography:

Myron" Mike" DeWitt is a Susquehanna County native who received his bachelor of arts degree from SUNY Binghamton in 1975 and his law degree from Michigan State University in 1980. From 1981 through 1985, he practiced law as an associate at the law firm of DeWitt and Schneeberg in Binghamton, New York. His practice there consisted of a general practice including real estate, estate planning, family law, bankruptcy law, Plaintiff's personal injury, and Social Security disability. During that period of time, he was admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and began a part-time practice in Pennsylvania. In 1986, he joined the Law Offices of Francis X. O'Connor in Great Bend, Pennsylvania engaging in a similar practice. Beginning in 1987 to date he has been practicing as a solo practitioner as well as a partner in the law firm of DeWitt and Cordner in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania until his partner's election as District Magistrate in 2012, after which he has continued to practice as a solo practitioner. His practice has consisted of a general practice with emphasis in real estate, elder law, estate planning, and consumer bankruptcy. He has also served and continues to serve as a solicitor for several local municipalities. He is a member of the Susquehanna County Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Association including its real property probate and trust Law, elder law, environmental and energy law, and municipal law sections. He has organized and lectured at PBI approved elder law seminars sponsored by the Susquehanna County Bar Association and Barnes Kasson County Hospital, helping to educate the public and fellow attorneys regarding Medicaid eligibility for nursing and in-home care as well as other significant planning issues affecting our elder population and their families. Since the 2007 advent of the Marcellus shale gas exploration and development in our area of northeastern Pennsylvania, he has educated himself regarding the complexities of oil, gas and mineral law and has assisted numerous clients in the negotiation of oil and gas leases and pipeline easements and provided advice regarding the myriad of other issues now affecting landowners.

Biography:

Rachael Thomas is a Susquehanna County native. She developed an interest in Law at a young age and never lost sight of that goal. While obtaining her undergraduate degree at Mansfield University she was a triple major in Psychology, Philosophy- Pre Law and Political Science. She also had a minor in Business Administration. She graduated Magna Cume Laude. She attended Wayne State University Law School immediately after her graduation at Mansfield and moved to a suburb of Detroit, Michigan. While at Law School she worked as a student attorney at the Free Legal Aid Clinic in Detroit, Michigan in the elder law department. She was able to gain valuable experience about Wills and Estate Planning and worked with clients who were victims of elder abuse. Simultaneously, she clerked at a Family Law firm and prepared Divorce, Custody and visitation agreements as well as assisted in defending against a Motion to Decrease Spousal Support. During her final year of Law School she began to clerk for Trott & Trott, PC as a Title Law Clerk. She later left Trott & Trott and joined the Quicken Loans Title Department. She was able to gain numerous skills through her title experience including experience with title curative measures, legal description disputes, filing title claims, and preparing briefs for Quiet Title Actions. Although she fell in love with Detroit, she decided to move back to Pennsylvania to be near her family. She has been working with Attorney Myron DeWitt since she returned to Susquehanna County in April of 2013. Her primary interests are Estates, Real Estate, Elder Law, Estate Planning, and Bankruptcy.
